Hi, I'm Nike. I live in a house in Delray Beach, Florida with my two caregivers, Sherry and Bob, and another kitty named Brooks who's supposed to be my companion. Well, maybe she was fun when I was younger, but I'm 17 years old now and I don't think I want a companion kitty any more. At 17, I want to do things my own way, on my own schedule, and I'd rather have Mommy all to myself.
I was just a kit when Sherry and Bob adopted me from a garage. They took me to a house where I saw stairs for the first time. Wasn't quite sure what to make of them at first, but it didn't take very long before I figured them out and was running all over the house, up and down the stairs, the drapes, the counters and everything else my young athletic body could get to. That was why they named me Nike, because I was always running around. Also something about it being alliterative with Night, which I'm as black as (or was, before I started getting those gray hairs).
When I first arrived, Sherry and Bob seemed to think I should sleep in a different room from them. I soon set them straight on that, though! I figured out how to open the door and get out and drive them nuts until they decided to let me sleep with them. Ever since then I've slept on Mommy's pillow. She gets 10% of the pillow and I get the other 90%.
Anyway, after a few years in the house with the stairs, we moved
to a larger place with no stairs, which is probably a good thing
because I'm not as athletic as I was then.
Now Mommy and Daddy give me life care, and
my preferred activity these days is snoozing.
