Operation Goody Boxes to Iraq
The Humanitarian Society, Inc. is a non-political organization
with dedicated members who simply want our
military men and women to know we love and support them
and are grateful to them for putting their lives on the
line for us.
So, on May 12, 2007, the Humanitarians started a project of
sending them Goody Boxes full of items
they request from home, along with The Humanitarian
Newsletter, and letters and cards with words of encouragement and thanks.
This will be an ongoing activity until they all come home;
a day we are all praying for.
Each box costs about $50, and if you want to sponsor a box you can contact us (and remember we accept credit cards). We are also accepting donations of the following "goodies" for the boxes: snack foods (crackers, cookies, etc.), fly paper, candy (Life Savers, etc.), gum, peanut butter (small plastic containers, etc.), tissues (small packages), Handi Wipes, crossword puzzles, paperback books, jelly (small plastic containers or individual containers), stationery (small lined pads), pens, pencils, etc.
We'll have a tent for collecting donations at the city of Boca Raton's July 4 celebration (see the July 4 flyer PDF file, c. 2M).
As of May 30, 190 boxes had been sent.
As of June 23, 256 boxes had been sent.
