There is nothing like breaking new ground, establishing a precedent, and initiating something for the first time. In general, charity organizations are reluctant to take the risks associated with doing this, preferring instead the continuation of the old "tried and true" methods of raising money for charity. So it is we have plenty of bingo nights and fashion shows. But this time, our hats are off to Dr. Wayne T. Moses and The Humanitarian Society for announcing the First Annual "Challenge of Champions" Horse Show right here in Palm Beach County. I like the gutsy part of it being the "First" and the confidence part of it being an "Annual." Indeed, guts and confidence are what make a true champion, whether it be a show horse or a charitable organization like The Humanitarian Society. And, guts and confidence are what Dr. Moses and the organizers of this event are showing us with its announcment. Whether we have ever seen a horse show of this calibre or not, we should all plan to pencil in our calendar for October 27-30, 1999 and attend this inaugural event to be held at the Stadium Jumping in Wellington, FL. In the coming month more detailed information will become available. By supporting this event with our presence (the admission is free) we, like the organizers and the horses, become champions. Now THAT is something to be proud of.
